On Campus

 


    On the East side of LBCC (Albany) is one of the many designated smoking spots. Just at the end of parking lot #4, it exists within minimal walking distance from McKenzie Hall. LBCC prides itself on being smoke-free while providing options for those who do part-take. This compromise helps the campus remain clean while not ostracising a portion of the school's demographic. 


    Further up the pathway is a waterfall underneath the staircase leading to the upper levels of Forum. On sunnier days, the area is perfect for relaxing to the ambient sounds. There are a few benches and tables for students to take over while working on their studies. 


    A spider web catching morning dew drops in the pine trees. LBCC has quite a few around campus, the most found around the East side of parking lot #4 or on the West side along the Wellness Trail. It can be grounding for students and faculty to take breaks during the day and these pathways provide just that. Whether it be just a portion of the trail or the entirety, it can help clear the mind for the rest to come.

  Holiday Village Oregon State Fair Salem, Oregon      The Holiday Village at the Oregon State Fair offers many activities, snacks, and local vendors for those in attendance. Of the first people I spoke with, Caroll and Debbie of the Oregon Beverage Services were very friendly. Over the few days that I ventured into the lively venue, they shared with me that their company had been participating in this event for a handful of years. Although the amount had not been clearly defined, Debbie reported that she loved every part of it. It shares Holiday cheer and brings in steady revenue to their small business. This was Caroll's first year coming in person himself, a task that was usually in the hands of his wife and children, as he usually operates behind the scenes.   (W.T. Caserta, Ankeny Hill, August 2nd, 2024) Welcome to my page!      I'm currently enrolled at Linn-Benton Community College where I'm working towards my Associate's of General Studies. I've been interested in the arts for a great portion of my life and have finally been able to take courses that align with that passion. In high school, I leaned more on my love of English and planned on pursuing it in my higher education. Unfortunately, the pandemic disrupted these plans and I put a pin in all my creative endeavors. I instead opted to join the workforce where I have gained nearly three years of experience in office settings. E.Z. Orchards HarvestFest, Salem OR

            The annual HarvestFest at E.Z. Orchards has been a tradition for this family farm for three decades. Opening in the fall of 1994, it has become a much larger festival expected to attract thousands of visitors this month. Until the thirtieth of October, the farm showcases many fall attractions including hayrides in the afternoon.       Friendly farm animals can be found in the mini petting zoo tent. Alongside the piglets are two goats, a calf, a sheep, and a few chickens. The farm reserves this adorable meet-and-greet for the HarvestFest only. Other activities include ring toss, pedal tractors, gold mining, and duck racing.             E.Z.
